On 16 October 2018, Mr Shigeru Murayama, Chairman of the Board of Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI), visited Parliament House in Canberra to meet with the Hon Tony Smith MP, Speaker of the House of the Representatives. The meeting followed the Speaker’s visit to hydrogen-related facilities in Kobe (Japan) in April 2018, where he witnessed the demonstration of a ground-breaking hydrogen technology facilities.
The senior representatives expressed sincere appreciation for the ongoing cooperation and the long-term vision for the development of a thriving hydrogen industry in Australia, Japan and around the world. Mr Murayama personally thanked the Speaker for his interest and support towards the Hydrogen Energy Supply Chain (HESC) Project between Australia and Japan.
They discussed the progress of the HESC Project in the Latrobe Valley and Port of Hastings and reiterated the importance of the ongoing relationship between the Australian Government and the HESC Project Partners in promoting the creation of the first hydrogen supply chain between the two partner nations.
